Managed to catch this carpenter bee chilling out on a big bloom on my lilac tree in the back yard. Shot with iPhone 7 using the Manual app for RAW capture. I got really lucky as the second bee in the shot just randomly flew into frame as I was pressing the “shutter” button. I’m not any kind of expert on insect photos, but lately the bees have been kind to me.
Shot settings: f/1.8, 1/879s shutter speed (this is real, apparently), and ISO 20 (somehow). Effective focal length is listed at 4mm in the metadata.
